Abstract

At the same ozone dosage and temperature,by changing buffer concentration the degradation of ozone and benzoic acid was studied with pH=3.0,4.7(acetate buffer),pH=7(phosphate buffer),pH=11(carbonate buffer). The results indicated that the acetate buffer system with some oxygen would hinder the decomposition of ozone and inhibit the generation of hydroxyl radical at pH=3.0,4.7.The phosphate buffer has no effect on ozone natural decomposition at pH=7.The carbonate buffer system is similar to acetate buffer system but the inhibition of carbonate buffer system on the ozone decomposition is more significant than acetate buffer system.
