Abstract

Objective:To investigated the incidence of depression symptoms and the related factors in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients, and to understand the useful measures for the improvement of their life quality. Methods: 179 outpatients(male 104,female 75) with end-stage renal disease(ESRD) treated with MHD at the Dialysis Center of Taian Central Hospital were evaluated.Depression manifestations were assessed by Zung self-rating depression scale(SDS).Patients were divided into non-depression group and depression group according to the SDS score obtained.Their basic clinical information, information of hemodialysis and laboratory parameters were also collected. Results: Age,diabetes,hs-CRP were significantly greater but Hb and BMI were lower than those in non-depression group(P0.05).There were no significant difference in gender, hemodialysis period, hemodialysis adequacy and calcium-phosphate metabolism between the two groups. Conclusion: Depression is related closely to age, diabetes, anemia, chronic inflammation condition and malnutrition status.
