Abstract

Volcanic reservoir has become an important domain of potential exploration and development in the northwest margin of Junggar Basin. However, there has not been any breakthrough yet discovered in the Carboniferous volcanic rocks in Kayindike area. This paper gives an in-depth analysis of the type, reservoir and cap rock for the neighbouring Carboniferous volcanic reservoirs, deepens the understanding of volcanic reservoir formation in complex tectonic belt, tentatively defines 4 key factors of hydrocarbon accumulation in this area, which are tectonic condition, lithofacies, fracture development, and preservation condition, and finally predicts the possibility of hydrocarbon accumulation in the Carboniferous volcanic rocks in Kayindike area through correlation.
