Liver injury in acute pancreatitis and its pathogenesis

Acute pancreatitis is a multiple system disease with alternations not only in the pancreas, but also in the distant organs such as the liver, lung and kidney, etc. Although liver injury is usually slight in acute pancreatitis, there is no better therapy for the end-stage hepatic 'failure. Liver injury and its pathogenesis in acute pancreatitis was reviewed to further understand the mechanisms of systemic inflammatory response and multiple organ failure, and to supply a new way for the prevention and treatment of acute pancreatitis.
