A Comparative Study on the Job Stressor and Degree of Stress among Head Nurses and Clinical Nurses

Objective To compare the job stressor and the degree of stress among head nurses and clinical nurses. To investigate the job stressor and the degree of stress among head nurses.Methods Forty-two head nurses cluster sampling and forty-two clinical nurses stratified sampling from two junior hospitals in Xi'an are studied as subjects. Scale of Job Stressor for Nurses(STSN) is used to survey the factors of the job stressor and the degree of Stress among head nurses and clinical nurses. Comparative analysis is made by using t-test.Results The difference,P0.01,of the factors of the job stressor and the degree of stress among head nurses and clinical nurses is remarkable. It means that head nurses are under greater job stress than clinical nurses.Conclusion Head nurses' special role put head nurses under great stress. Senior managers are advised to show concern on the job stress among junior managers,create more chances for them to study and communicate and ways to alleviate such job stress so that head nurses can deal with their job stress better.
