Abstract

Objective To explore the related position between the terminal ends of the inferior oblique muscle and related structures. Method 158 fetal eyeballs were observed by gross anatomical method. Results The related position between the terminal margins of the inferior oblique muscle and the terminal ends of the lateral rectus can have 6 types or 4 types and the relationship between the terminal margins of the inferior oblique muscle and retrobulbar optic nerve can have 3 types. It was found that the posterior margins of the inferior oblique muscle were connected with the sheath of optic never in 3 cases. Conclusion The inferior oblique muscle have intimate relationship with lateral rectus and optic nerve in position.
