Abstract

A three dimensional model of tire steady rolling by taking 11.00R20 tire for an example was established by using Abaqus finite element analysis software. The parameters were defined based on the relationship curve between attachment coefficient and slip rate on diverse road conditions. The model was applied to simulate tire riding on bituminous, earthy and slightly snowy roads, and the changes of contact press(CPRESS),shear stress(CSHEAR)and free rolling radius of the tire were analyzed under static contact, braking, free rolling and traction on those road conditions. The results indicated that when the road was smoother, the CPRESS and CSHEAR distributed more homogene- ously, the maximum values of CPRESS and CSHEAR were smaller, the free rolling angular velocity was larger, and the free rolling radius was smaller.
