Abstract

Objective Tocomparetheimagequalityandradiationdosewithprospectiveversusretrospectiveelectrocardiography gated 256-slice CT coronary angiography, for optimizing the scan protocols of coronary angiography CTA. Methods Sixty patients with heart rate between 70 and 90 beats/min were randomly divided into prospectively ECG-gated group(group A) and retrospectively ECG-gated group(group B), their image quality and radiation dose were compared. Results The percent of qualified image in group A and B was 93.7%(253/270)and 99.3%(268/270), respectively, with a significant difference( 0.05).Effective dose of group A and B was(4.020±0.463)mSv and(16.649±1.232)mSv, respectively, with a significant difference( 0.05).Conclusions Radiation dose in prospectively ECG-gated 256-slice CT angiography was lower than that of retrospectively one.But the image quality of prospectively ECG-gated 256-slice CT angiography was worse than that of retrospectively one in patients with high heart rate.
