Abstract
Determination of high\|content magnesium in aluminum alloy by Chlorophosphonazo\|I spectrophotometric method was studied in this paper. In basic medium, MagnesiumⅡ reacts with Chlorophosphonazo\|I to form a purplish red complex, having its absorption maximum at 580nm with a molar absorptivity of 1.95×10\+4 L\5mol\+\{-1\}\5cm\+\{-1\}. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0~0.5 μg\5mL\+\{-1\} for magnesium Ⅱ. The results obtained by spectrophotometric method were in good agreement with those by EDTA titration method for the same samples. The proposed method is rapid and convenient, especially for rapid analysis of high\|content magnesium of aluminum alloy.
