Abstract

The bilinear Hirota method and the symbolic computation system Maple are employed to investigate a generalized high-order nonlinear Schrdinger equation with variable coefficients,one-soliton solution,two-soliton solution and multi-soliton solution are given. Moreover,a Bcklund transformation for the equation is constructed, another soliton solution for the equation is also obtained by using the Bcklund transformation.
