Abstract

Objective:To detect Aquaporin 8(AQP8) expression in normal human fetal.membranes and placenta. Methods:Fetal membranes and placenta were collected from 6 women with intact membranes who underwent elective cesarean sections at term.RT-PCR was used to detect expression of AQP8mRNA,immunohistochemistry was used to detect expression of AQP8 protein.Results:AQP8 mRNA was detected in amniotic, chorion and placenta.Immunohistochemical results:showed AQP8 protein was mainly localized in the cytomembrane and cytoplasm of epithelial cell of amnion, trophocyte of chorion and syncytiotrophoblast of placenta.Conclusions:AQP8 may play an important role in amniontic fluid balance as well as maternal-fetal fluid balance.
