Study on Land Desertification Situation and Driving Factor in Gulang County

Gulang County stands in intersection of arid and semiarid zone,there are three types of land desertification: sandy desertification,water-eroded desertification and grassland degradation.Gulang County has serious desertification status,eco-environment is instable especially and its area of land desertification has occupied 85.94% of all.The dynamic data of desertification survey from 1987 to 2000 indicated: in whole county,the general desertification degree is some declining but declined degree is slight,and land desertification keeps on developing in part of range,especially the land desertification degree reached weighty in the south edge of Tegeli desert that area occupied 22.51% at county's north.The main causes of land desertification at Gulang County have three driving factors including incremental population,decreasing surface water resources and improper grazing course.
