Data format conversion based on VB6.0 and MapObjects

Abstract

In the application of the geographic information system(GIS),the map data which are mainly provided by traditional mapping departments on the basis of CAD software has to be translated into the data which can be used in the GIS,and there are two kinds of means of implementing data format conversion—the direct conversion mode and the indirect conversion mode.In this paper,the indirect conversion mode is adopted to transform VCT files into shape files based on Visual Basic 6.0 and MapObjects,and whole information conversion is achieved.
