Comparison of the Clinical Efficacy Between Mini-plate and Kirschner Wire Fixation in the Treatment of Metacarpal and Phalangeal Fracture

Objective To compare and analyze the clinical efficacy between mini-plate and Kirschner wire fixation in the treatment of metacarpal and phalangeal fracture. Methods 20 patients underwent Kirschner wire fixation and 26 patients underwent mini-plate fixation in our hospital were selected. The indications, TAFS evaluation and the satisfaction with appearance of two groups of patients. Results The hospitalization time of the mini-plate group was(7.58±0.48)d, the average duration of operation was(94.01±3.72) min, the time of fracture healing was(6.46 ±0.27)d, and that of the Kirschner wire group was(5.38 ±0.50)d,(35.91±1.76)min,(7.78 ±0.36)d, respectively; the excellent and good rate of the patients treated by Kirschner wire fixation was70.00%, the rate of satisfaction with appearance was 85.00%, and that of the patients treated by mini-plate fixation was 88.46%,92.31%, respectively. Conclusion The operation time and hospitalization time of mini-plate operation are longer. Kirschner wire fixation can be given to the patients whose economic conditions are limited, and mini-plate fixation can be suggested to the patients who have the requirement for better appearance.
