Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the value of MSCTA of carotid artery by comparing the image quality of multislice spiral CT angiography (MSCTA) of pig carotid artery with that of DSA.Methods:10 pigs underwent the exam of 1.3mm collimation scans of MSCT and digital subtraction angiography, the acquired volume data of MSCTA were postprocessed with three dimentional reformation of Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) and Volume Rendering (VR).The risk and the value of two exams were evaluated;General evaluation based on the entirety, the outline and branches of carotid artery. And statistical analysis with SPSS was conducted by two experienced radiologists. Results:The advantage of MSCTA of carotid artery over DSA was in such aspects as image entirety, observation from any angle with little effects by blood flow, little risk and lower price. But the general image quality of carotid artery MSCTA was affected by the means of three dimensional reformation. The outline and smothness of the branches of carotid artery on DSA were superior to that on MSCTA.Conclusion:The difference between two exams was obvious,MSCTA has the advantage of homogeneous density and multidirectional observation of the vessel;in combination with axial view,it is beneficial for evaluation of lesions of vascular wall and extraluminal lesions.
