Abstract

Objective To study and analyze clinical effects of the digital artery island skin flap for fingertip defects. Methods From 2001 to 2007,35 fingertip defects(30 cases)were repaired with the digital island skin flaps with neurovascular pedicle. Results All flaps survived.Following up of 1 to 26 months showed satisfactory results functionally and cosmetically. Conclusion The anterograde and retrograde island flap with neurovascular pedicle is a safe and effective procedure and it is a feasible choice for repair of fingertip defects.
