Abstract
A new image coding improved algorithm based on fractal is proposed in this paper. The algorithm combined the feature of multi-resolution analysis of wavelet transformation .And it processes basic fractal coding to the high-level subimages. Then according to the likeness of structure between different level subband images, we construct the low-level fractal codes with the high ones. Dur- ing the fractal coding, we apply the fractal predicting by the different block size according to the different texture feature of different orientation subimages. The experimental results indicate that the improved algorithm can decrease the fractal coding time greatly and achieve a higher compression rate.
