Abstract

Objective:To study the animal model of restenosis for investigating and preventing restenosis after percutaenous coronary intervention(PCI). Methods:The model of atherosclerotic stenosis was created by the injury of endothelium of double iliac artery with balloon by carotid converse path, and the rabbit was fed with high cholesterol. The restenosis model was created.Results:(1)The levels of serum cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly lower before feeding compared with that after feeding(P0.01).(2)The stenosis of left iliac artery was (50.80±14.12)%,and stenosis of right iliac artery was (51.20±13.94)% before angiplasty. There was no significant difference(P0.05).The restenosis was (55.20±14.47)% five weeks after angioplasty.(3)The tunica intima became thick, and consisted of foam cells and smooth mucle cells by pathological sections. The internal elastic membrane was broken, and the smooth mucle cells moved into tunica intima from tunica media.(4)The membrane structure was destroyed,a lot of fatty vacuoles were deposit, and collagen fiber was hyperplastic in plasma by the examination of transmission election microscopy. Conclusion: The animal model of atherosclerosis and restenosis was successfully created. This method was simple, economical, and manageable, and the model was steady, credible, and easily repeated.
