Abstract
Objective To assess the clinical value of 16-row multislice CTA in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Methods A total of 186 cerebral aneurysms of 175 cases received 16-slice CTA. Using maximum-intensity projections and volume-rendering techniques, the shape, size and location of the aneurysms were defined. Results Fifty-two aneurysms were clipped on the basis of 16-slice CTA images. One hundred and thirty-four aneurysms received endovascular coiling based on information provided by CTA,such as shape, dimension andlocation of the aneurysms, the parent artery and the ratio of sac to neck, which could assist in finding the projection angle and deciding the necessity of stent implantation. Conclusion Sixteen-slice CTA is fast and relatively noninvasive and provides sufficient diagnostic information to guide neurosurgical and endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
