Abstract
In this paper it is explained that the modern comprehensive transportation system is taken shape and developed with socio-economic development and technologyical progress of human society. It is introduced that the modern transportation tools including waterway, railway, highway, aviation and pipeline have made way into the new era of comprehensive transportation system, and the function and development of comprehensive transportation system is analyzed. Especially, the developing objective of the Tenth Five-Year Transportation Plan that is Market economy as the guide, sustainable development as the premise, to set up a intelligent comprehensive transportation system of high-speed passenger and logistical freight transport , is also discussed.
