Abstract

Based on the working principle and the simplified model of MR damper,a series of experimental study on the damper force, energy dissipation and the response time under different excitation amplitude, frequency and control current is performed. The results indicate that the MR damper has a high effectiveness for energy dissipation, and the energy dissipation increases with the increasing of the excitation amplitude, frequency and control current. The response time of the MR damper does not change obviously with the control current changing, but decreases rapidly with the increase of vibration speed.
