Abstract

Objective: To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) in rats with cognitive dysfunction after traumatic brain injury. Methods: The traumatic brain injury model was established by use of Feeney' method in rats.Thirty male rats were recruited in this study and randomly divided into 3 groups: traumatic brain injury group(group A),traumatic brain injury+HBO group(group B),and sham-operation group(group C).The learning and memory in groups A,B and C were tested by Morris water maze 24 days after development of the model. Results: Rats in group B used less time than rats in group A in the latency of escape at the same time.In the spatial probe test, the times across the original platform in the group B were more than those in the group A.Conclusion: HBO treatment can effectively improve the cognitive dysfunction after traumatic brain injury.
