Abstract
The alginate-chitosan microcapsules were prepared by electrostatic combination on the high-voltage electrostatic droplet generator. The influence of some factors on the morphology and particle size of alginate-chitosan microcapsules was investigated.Compared to the saline and mannitol, the spherical and smooth-surfaced microcapsules with narrow particle size distribution were obtained by washing the beads with distilled water. The average size of alginate-chitosan microcapsules decreased rapidly from 341.4 to 235.8 μm in response to an reduction in the pH value of chitosan solution from 5.0 to 2.8.At the same time, the in vitro release characteristics of alginate-chitosan microcapsules was also investigated.
