Use of Condom Among Commercial Sexual Workers in Panzhihua City,2010-2013

Objective To understand the trend of condom use among commercial sexual workers( CSW)and associated factors so as to provide a basis for AIDS intervention. Methods According to National HIV comprehensive surveillance guideline,both stratified cluster sampling and convenience sampling were adopted to investigate the demographical information,AIDS related knowledge,use of condom and status of receiving intervention among the CSW in 2010- 2013, annually. The results were analyzed with SPSS19. 0. Results During this period,3200 CSWs were investigated and the use rate of condom was respectively 64. 3%,89. 8%,93. 9% and 93. 5% in the last commercial sexual behaviour,and in the last month the use rate of condom in every sexual behaviour was respectively 43. 3%,61. 8%,69% and70. 8%. The differences among use rates were both statistically different( χ2= 386. 04,P0. 01; χ2=225. 42,P0. 01). The associated factors of use of condom included education degree,propaganda of HIV testing and intervention,as well as awareness of AIDS knowledge. Conclusion The rate of use condom is increasing annually during the period in Panzhihua city,while the rate of use condom in each sexual behavior is yet to be increased. Thus,promotion of condom use and propaganda of related knowledge both should be emphasized.
