Abstract
Consulting the diary,private letters and other materials of Hu Shi is an effective way to recall the emergence of new verse.Given the discrepancies between the original materials used by Hu Shi in his vernacular poetic writing and his later account in literary history,it is easy to discern the change of nomencalture from doggerels to vernacular poems as well as the intrinsic interaction between vernacular poems and dialect poems.
