Abstract
On an electronically controlled common-rail diesel engine, the economical performance and exhaust index of fuel-purpose biodiesel and diesel at different rotating speed and different loads are measured. The results show that the specific fuel consumption of biodiesel in the whole load range is higher than that of diesel;the NOx concentration of biodiesel is higher than diesel;at high load, the smoke of diesel is about 1.3m-1,while that of biodiesel is only 0.3m-1;the calorific value of biodiesel is lower,so its specific fuel consumption is higher than diesel;the combustion-supporting performance of oxygen in biodiesel is helpful to produce NOx.Since biodiesel does not contain sulfide, its exhaust of carbon smoke is lower than diesel.
