Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at different time in acute injury of spinal cord (ASCI) in rats so as to find the best time for the treatment. Methods A total of 50 SD rats were evenly randomized into normal group, model group, electroacupuncture group A,B and C.The 3 electroacupuncture groups were treated with electroacupuncture at 2h,6h and 12h respectively after being made ASCI model. The acupoints Mingmen (GV 4) and Dazhui (GV 14) were chosen for electroacupuncture with frequency 2Hz,continuous wave, and intensity 2~5mA for 30minutes.The samples were collected at 24h after modeling to detect the changes in nitric oxide (NO),malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the injured spinal cord. Results After treatment, the serum levels of NO,MDA and SOD in the injured spinal cord of all rats changed. The result of 2h after modeling was the most significant (P0.05 or P0.01),then 6h the second, and then 12h the third. Conclusion Electroacupuncture given earlier (2h after ASCI) achieves better effect.
