Abstract
Objective:To evaluate analgesic effect and acute toxicity of naprodein (codeine : naproxen=1:10). Method: Analgesic effect was determined by acetic acid-induced writhing and tail-flicking, and acute toxicity was observed for 7 days after a single dose of the drugs(ig) in mice and rats. Result: The ED50 values were 4.96,1.49 mg·kg-1 by acetic acid-induced writhing, 0.67 and 0.34 g·kg-1 by tail-flicking in mice and rats, respectively; LD50 values were 1.78 and 0.31 g·kg-1 in mice and rats, respectively. Conclusion: analgesic effect of naprodein is better and its toxicity is lower than that of its components.
