Abstract

Dingxi dialect is sub-dialect of central plains mandarin in the area of Shaanxi and Gansu. The features in its tones and rhymes are pretty much like those in dialects in the east of Gansu, Guanzhong and the south of Ningxia. If we look at their tones of single characters, the level tones are not divided into high level tones and rising tones, but in tone sanhi, there are such divisions. The most obvious distinction between Neiguanying sub-dialect and Chengguanzhen sub-dialect is that they differ in the initial consonant's vowel words in cacuninals.
