Abstract

Folklore is the life habits formulated through the existence and development of a certain community. It is formulated in history and thus a part of history. Archaeology of folklore traces and examines sources in light of the field-investigation method and research results of folklore studies and cultural anthropology, leading historical studies into a broad field beyond texts. Today, folklore has entered the main streams of Chinese culture, posing new challenges for the study of social history as well as providing important cultural resources in the new millennium.
