Study on the definitions of forest health

It's necessary to know first that the definition to forest heath should be based on the completely understanding of the concept of forest and health in the modern society.It is considered that forest should not only be thought as environment and nature resources,but also the ecological infrastructures of modern society.And the concept of health now is changed with the characteristics of social and multi-dimensional.Based on the experience of being a coordinator of Sino-US Forest Health Cooperation Program and systematic consideration of the complementation of recent forest restoration programs,the concept of forest health is defined as the condition and productivity of forest to supply the necessary ecological service whilst maintaining healthy growth and vitality to regenerate.Forest health is characterized by complexity of nature and society,non-linear,and dynamically stable properties.
