Abstract

Further Discussion on the Later shi(是) in the Sentences of shi shi(是是) in Unearthed Literatures by Mr.Zhu Cheng gives some new examples to explain that there are quite a few sentences in ancient Chinese before Qing about shi(是)as a verb of being.According to the analysis of the examples and research methods using by Mr.Zhu Cheng, the author of this paper argues that shi(是)all the same has not yet developed as a verb of being in ancient Chinese before Qing and the second shi(是) in sentences of shi shi(是是) in unearthed literatures works as an adverb, not as a verb of being.
