Abstract

The machining precision of the engaged conical twin-screw rotors,which are the key parts of a conical twin-screw extruder,has direct effect on the performance of the extruder.The precision and efficiency of the conventional machining method are lower,and the intermeshing and exchanging characters of the machined screw-rotor are worse.In order to improve the performance of an extruder,the geometry of the conical twin-screw was studied,and subsequently a new NC manufacturing method for milling screw-rotor with cylindrical end milling cutter was proposed.5-axis integrated CNC machine tool for machining spiral flute was designed and produced.And a complete set of automatic programming system for NC machining of screw rotor was developed. The present research is of important engineering significance in improving the machining level of conical twin-screw.
