Tendency of menarche age and relationship between menarche age and body constitution of girls in Fujian Province

Objective To understand the status and tendency of menarche of girls in Fujian Province,and explore the relationship between menarche age and body constitution in order to provide the references for puberty health education.Methods A total of 3 847 girls aged 7-18 years were selected by using a stratified cluster sampling method and investigated,and their median menarche age(MMA) was calculated by using the status quo method and probity regression.Results MMA was 12.5 years in girls.There were significant differences between urban and rural students(P 0.05).The morphological parameters(stature,body weight,chest circumference,sitting height),Verweck index,Rohrer index and vital capacity in post-menarche group were significantly higher than those in per-menarche group(P0.01).Manourvrier Skelic index in pre-menarche group was higher than that in post-menarche group.There was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusions The menarche age shows an advance tendency in girls of Fujian Province.The morphological parameters and functional parameters are closely correlated with the adolescence development.
