Abstract

Optimum conditions of the color reaction of 2-(5-carboxy-1,3,4-triazolylazo)-5-diethylamino aniline with palladium? were reported. It was found that the color reagent reacts with Pd? to form a stable purple red complex(2∶1)in the buffer solution of HAc-NaAc at pH 5.5.The maximum absorption wavelength and apparent molar absorptivity were found to be at 585 nm and 1.2×10~4 L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1),respectively.Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0-1.6 mg/L for Pd?.The method has been used for the direct determination of palladium in catalyst and synthetic waste water. The recovery of standard addition and RSD are 100.8% for catalyst,101.0% for synthetic wase water and 0.6% for catalyst,0.7% for synthetic wase water(n=6),respectively.
