Research on Cultivation and Construction of Lanzhou Metropolitan Area

Abstract

Metropolitan Area is a new phenomenon based on regional urbanization. It is caused by the centralization and diffusion of central city. The development of Metropolitan Area follows the process of self-organization, which is composed by embryonic stage, growth stage, development stage, and maturity stage. This paper is based on the general theory and analyzes the development of Lanzhou Metropolitan Area, putting forward that it shows to be in the embryonic stage. In the end, the paper discusses some important questions about the cultivation and construction of Lanzhou Metropolitan Area.
