Abstract

Jeremy Bentham's utilitarianism political philosophy is based on his critique of traditional thoughts of contract. While absorbing contract thoughts of thinkers before him such as Helvetius, he systematically brought forward and explained his utilitarianism principles. Differing from them, Bentham successfully improved traditional theories of contract and after him it was utilitarianism that constituted the most important character of libertarianism. 
