Abstract
With drawings of dancing movements as its essential part, the dancing manual functions and works largely as a record of dancing, thus a means for directors to compose and rehearse dances. This pragmatic function of the dancing manual not only indicates its value of existence but determines its symbolic written form of accuracy and precision. Hence its prominent characteristic of being literary and symbolic.
