Abstract

objective To study the expression of MMP 2,MMP 9 and TIMP 1 in the breast cancer tissue,to find out the relationship between their expression and tumor invasion and metastasis, and to disclose the mechanism of the tumor invasion and metastasis. Methods Tissues were obtained from 82 patients with breast cancer and 30 patients without breast carcinoma. The expression of MMP 2,MMP 9 and TIMP 1 were examined by immunohistochemical technique(S P).Results ①The positive rates of MMP 2,MMP 9 and TIMP 1 expression in 82 cases of breast carcinoma were 52.4%(43/82),53.7%(44/82) and 32.9%(27/82) respectively,it is different apparently compared with the control group.② The expression of MMP 2 was related to grade(Ⅰ/Ⅲ, P 0.01),but the expressions of MMP 9,TIMP 1 were not related to grade( P 0 05).③ The expressions of MMP 2,MMP 9 were not related to the expression of TIMP 1( P 0.05).④The expressions of MMP 2 or/and MMP 9 were related to axillary lymph node metastasis( P 0 05),but the expression of TIMP 1 was not related to axillary lymph node metastasis ( P 0 05).Conclusion MMP 9 may contribute to the metastasis of breast cancer.
