Abstract

Western Marxism takes an important position in 20th century thinking for its violent criticism on western capitalism.Since it was introduced to China in 1978 by Xu Chongwen,it has influenced not only the studies of philosophy and aesthetics,but that of languages.Its prominent feature lies in its criticalness,which provides a strong theoretical support and insight for discourse analysis.Based on a thorough analysis of this feature,this paper has expounded on the influences of Western Marxism on critical discourse analysis from four perspectives,for the purpose of clarifying the relationship between Western Marxism and critical discourse analysis.
