Abstract
This paper presents a body of knowledge for the Chief Information Officer through the Delphi investigation method. The body of knowledge consists of three knowledge layers or ten knowledge modules. The low knowledge layer includes three elements: information technology knowledge, information management knowledge and information system knowledge. The middle knowledge layer includes four elements: process management knowledge, project management knowledge, enterprise management knowledge and public-sector management knowledge. The high knowledge layer includes three elements: information innovation knowledge, information strategy knowledge, information culture knowledge.
