Abstract
Objective To establish enterogenous hyperoxaluria model in rats. Methods Thirty randomly selected female Sprague-Daw-ley rats were fed in individual metabolic cage for 7 days. 24 h urine oxalate excretions were examined by ion chromotagraphy before and after the spinach juice lavage, and the difference was investigated.Another 20 female Sprague-Daw-ley rats were randomly divided into group A and group B. Group B was lavaged with spinach juice and group A was lavaged with equivalent pure water. 24 h urine oxalate excretions of group A and group B were compared. Results The 24 h urine oxalate excretion was(0.53±0.18) mg before lavaging spinach juice. On first day, third day and seventh day after lavaging spinach juice, the 24 h urine oxalate excretions were(1.93±0.36) mg,(1.85±0.38) mg, and(2.03±0.39) mg,respectively. The 24 h urine oxalate excretion of group A and group B were(0.44±0.12) mg and(1.68±0.38) mg, respectively. Conclusion The 24 h urine oxalate excretion of SD rats was markedly increased 3 to 4 times after lavaged with spinach juice. Daily lavage with quantitatively and constant concentration spinach juice can maintain long-term high oxalic acid urine state in rats. This method of establishing enterogenous hyperoxaluria model in rats is simple and feasible, which can be widely used.
