Abstract
Objective To investigate the mental health status of the graduate students of magister and explore the relationship with their social sup-ports,to provide bases for the intervention measures of mental health.MethodsA total of 350 graduate students of magister randomly selected froma university in Chongqing were enrolled for the study and investigated with the Self-reporting Inventory(SCL-90)and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).ResultsScores of graduate students of magister in somatization,compulsion,terror,mental symptoms were higher than the general post-graduate students in the western region of China,and scores in the hostility and other symptoms were lower than the general graduate students in thewestern region of China(P 0.05). The general and each factor scores of the SCL-90 in second year graduate students were higher than that of thefirst year graduate students(P 0.05). The scores of male in objective supports,utilization rates were lower than that of the female(P 0.05). Thegeneral and each factor scores of the SCL- 90 were negatively correlated with scores in objective support,support utilization and total support(r =-0.114--0.256).ConclusionThe mental health status of graduate students of magister is correlated with social supports. More social supportsbenefit the mental health of graduate students of magister.
