Abstract

Objective To understand the current status of Clonorchis sinensis infection for making effective control measures in rural area of Zhuhai city. Methods Modified Kato-Katz method was used to detect the Clonorchis sinensis eggs in feces. Knowledge and Prevention of Clonorchis sinensis were investigated. Results 1000 respondents in 5 towns were investigated, and 6.3% of them were infected. Middle-aged men were the main infected groups. The awareness rate of Clonorchis sinensis prevention knowledge was 87.8% . Using the different chopping board for handling both cooked and raw foods was the protective measure for avoid infection of Clonorchis sinensis [OR=0.11,OR95% C.I.(0.02-0.62)]. Conclusion The rate of Clonorchis sinensis infection was lower than the provincial average of Guangdong province. The awareness rate of Clonorchis sinensis prevention knowledge was high. Using the different chopping board for handling both cooked and raw foods was the protective measure to avoid infection of Clonorchis sinensis.
