Abstract

Amorphous Fe-(Cr,Ni)-(C,B) coatings were prepared on low carbon steel by arc spraying technology. The phase composition, microstructure, properties of thermal stability and behavior of frictional wear were studied and analyzed by X-ray diffraction instrument(XRD),scanning electronic microscope(SEM),differential thermal analyzer and MRH-3 friction wear testing machine, respectively. The results showed that the coating had a high content of amorphous phase, layered distribution and a dense and uniform structure. The crystallization process in the coating would not occur at the temperature below 500 ℃.The coating possessed high hardness and excellent friction and wear properties, with the average hardness of 1 155 HV0.1.At the same experimental conditions, the relative wear-resistance property of the coating was 13.3 times of the one of Q235 steel, the wear mechanism was mainly dominated by fatigue wear.
