Abstract

In this paper, the calculation of wave runup and overtopping rate related to the determination of seawall crest elevation is introduced, and the determination methods of crest elevation for seawalls in Zhejiang adopted since 1997 are analyzed. Analyses of crest elevation for seawalls built reveal that with adequate protection for the back slope and seawall crest, allowable overtopping rate can be used to determine the crest elevation so as to reduce the height of seawall properly.
