Abstract
With the development strategy of Wuhan Megalopolis implemented, the enterprise scale and efficiency are improved and the division and cooperation between the industries are increased constantly. Using the gravity model on spatial interaction, this paper calculates economic contact intensity between cities in Wuhan Megalopolis. It is found that the central city is at the stage of economic agglomeration with close economic contacts, most of which are longitudinal and present distance attenuation effect. At present, the development of Wuhan Megalopolis should meet the demand of city agglomeration and play the role of radiation for central cities. Using the proportion of economic contact intensity of each city to determine economic contact direction, the paper puts forward spatial development direction,i.e., building two urban belts respectively along Beijing-Guangzhou axis and Yangtze River axis; and constructing anti-electromagnetic urban system of four core economic hinterland areas.
