Abstract

The leaf epidermis structures of 8 species in the genus Angelica L.were examined with LM.The results show that they have similar morphological characteristics of leaf epidermis, and the anticlinal walls in most of them are straight.MCLE such as cell shape, arrangement of stomatal apparatus and the distribution of epidermal hairs exhibit a high diversity, which cam be evaluated as the certain references for inter-species identification. They can be divided into three types in accordance with the similar degrees of cells shape in the morphological characteristics on leaf epidermis: isomorphic, similar and different types, but the characteristics of leaf epidermis can not provide adequate references for systematics study.
