The age character of the rabbits’ ovary structure

Objective To explore the stage of the best typical rabbit’s ovary structure for teaching slice-making.Methods The ovaries taken from rabbits in different ages were taken by the following procedures: embedded by paraffin sliced in succession, stained with HE, Van-Gieson and PAS, observed and counted with a light microscope. Results The two-months-old rabbits’ follicles had began to develop,and its degree of development increased gradually with the growth of age. Ovary's medulla was replaced by interstitial glands gradually. The boundary between cortex and medulla in rabbit’s ovary structure was distinct, and the atresia follicles,lutein,and interstitial gland were not found. The developing follicles distribute from the circumambience to the center. That was similar to human ovary. The ovary’s structure of the rabbits in seven and eight months old presented sexual maturation. Ovary’s medulla was replaced by interstitial glands gradually.Conclusion The rabbit’s ovary structure in four and five months old approaches maturation, tThe ovary’s structure of the rabbits in seven and eight months old presented sexual maturation, and this stage should be selected for teaching slice-making.
