Gadamer and the Enlightenment

The development of Western Hermeneutics could not be separated from the Enlightenment. As an important part of Western Hermeneutics,Gadamer’s hermeneutics incorporates both criticism and promotion of the Enlightenment. Despite the impact of romanticism he received in this regard,Gadamer’s hermeneutics by no means adopts the positions of romanticism. Instead,it possesses a more profound theoretical value and practical significance as it represents a dialectical negation of the negation of the link.
